Otunba Lekan Akinyele Pledges Cost-Cutting Legislation to Transform Governance if Elected in 2027
Ado-Ekiti, Nigeria—African Democratic Congress (ADC) candidate Otunba Lekan Akinyele has pledged to champion legislation that will significantly reduce the cost of governance if elected to represent Ekiti Central Federal Constituency II (Ijero/Efon/Ekiti West) in the 2027 general elections.
Speaking on his legislative agenda, Akinyele said cutting the excessive cost of running government remains one of the biggest barriers to Nigeria’s economic progress.
He promised to prioritize bills and oversight measures that enforce fiscal discipline, strengthen transparency, and ensure greater efficiency in public spending.
“If elected, I will redirect savings to programmes and projects that directly improve the lives of the people,” he stated.
According to him, a leaner and more efficient system of governance would free up resources for critical sectors, including infrastructure, education, healthcare, job creation, and economic empowerment.
Akinyele emphasised that the high cost of governance affects not only residents of Ijero, Efon and Ekiti West but also businesses, entrepreneurs, workers, and ordinary citizens across the country.
He said the National Assembly has a vital role to play in promoting responsible management of public resources through sound legislation and effective oversight.
The ADC aspirant made clear that his commitment goes beyond the immediate interests of his constituency.
He pledged to bring renewed energy and focus to the Green Chamber, with particular attention to policies that promote fiscal responsibility, accountability, transparency, and prudent public expenditure.
Calling on the people of Ijero, Efon, and Ekiti West to support his ambition in 2027, Akinyele said he has developed a clear and practical blueprint aimed at addressing the needs and aspirations of the constituency through quality legislation while also contributing to broader national development.
“Otunba Lekan Akinyele will do more,” the statement concluded, underscoring his readiness to deliver tangible results for both his constituents and the nation.
