New EFCC Maiduguri Zonal Director Resumes Duty, Demands Integrity and Discipline from Staff
Maiduguri, Borno State—September 24, 2026—The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) has a new face at the helm of its Maiduguri Zonal Directorate as Assistant Commander of the EFCC (ACE I) Naibi Nuhu Aliyu formally assumed duty on Wednesday, September 23, 2026.
In a brief but firm handover ceremony attended by department and sectional heads, Aliyu took over from ACE I Suleiman Na’Abba, who had been serving as Head of Investigation.
The new Zonal Director immediately set the tone for his leadership by calling on every staff member to operate with integrity, professionalism, and strict adherence to the rule of law.

Addressing officers, Aliyu stressed that the fight against economic and financial crimes demands the highest ethical standards.
“Officers should carry out their duties with integrity at all times even when no one is seeing them.
There is no way you belong to the EFCC without integrity. We should not do anything that is not in line with the ethics of the job,” he said.
He further warned that he would not tolerate indiscipline. Staff, he said, must obey the Commission’s rules and regulations, act responsibly, and follow lawful orders from superior officers.
“By obeying the rules and regulations of the EFCC, officers must act responsibly… as I will not condone indiscipline,” Aliyu declared.
The new Zonal Director also reminded staff that the EFCC must stand apart through its actions and attitudes. “We are EFCC and different from others. We show we are different by our actions and attitudes towards the fight against economic and financial crimes and corruption and the community,” he stated.
He urged officers to cultivate self-discipline, maintain zero tolerance for corruption, and resist any form of intimidation.
Smooth Transition and Assurance of Support
In his remarks, the outgoing Head of Investigation, ACE I Suleiman Na’Abba, congratulated Aliyu on his posting and assured him of the full support of the heads of departments and units in the zone.
Before his transfer to Maiduguri, Aliyu served as Director of Ethics and Integrity at the Commission’s headquarters, a background that underscores the emphasis he is placing on internal discipline and ethical conduct.

The Maiduguri Zonal Directorate covers a strategically important and security-sensitive region of the country. The zone has in recent years handled cases ranging from advance fee fraud and impersonation of EFCC officers to money laundering and other financial crimes.
