IGP Disu Bags Prestigious CIPM Fellowship for Reform Leadership and Welfare Excellence
Abuja, Nigeria—September 24, 2026—Inspector-General of Police Olatunji Rilwan Disu has been inducted as a Fellow of the Chartered Institute of Personnel Management of Nigeria (CIPM), the highest membership grade of the professional body that regulates human resource practice in the country.
The induction ceremony took place today at the Bola Ahmed Tinubu International Conference Centre in Abuja. CIPM President and Chairman of the Governing Council, Mallam Ahmed Ladan Gobir, conferred the Fellowship, describing the police chief as a reform-minded leader with exceptional capacity in people management, institutional transformation, and welfare-driven leadership.
In his acceptance remarks, IGP Disu expressed gratitude to the Institute. He stressed that effective personnel management remains central to modern policing and pledged to continue promoting merit, capacity building, discipline, and the welfare of officers and men as critical pillars of a professional, service-oriented Nigeria Police Force.
The Fellowship is reserved for distinguished professionals who have made significant contributions to human resource management and leadership.
The official police statement noted that the honour recognizes Disu’s exemplary leadership, commitment to human resource development, professionalism, and administrative excellence within the Force.
Who Is IGP Olatunji Rilwan Disu?
Olatunji Rilwan Disu, born 13 April 1966 in Lagos Island, assumed office as the 23rd Inspector-General of Police in February 2026 after being appointed by President Bola Ahmed Tinubu to succeed Kayode Egbetokun.
A career officer who joined the Nigeria Police Force as a Cadet Assistant Superintendent in 1992, he has held several high-profile commands, including Commissioner of Police in Rivers State and the Federal Capital Territory, leadership of the Intelligence Response Team, and senior roles in the Force Criminal Investigation Department.
He holds advanced degrees in public administration, criminology, security and legal psychology, and entrepreneurship and is already affiliated with professional bodies including the Chartered Institute of Personnel Management, the Nigerian Institute of Public Relations, and the International Association of Chiefs of Police.
