Ado-Ekiti, Nigeria—October 5, 2026—As Ekiti State marks its 30th anniversary, the political temperature in Ekiti Central Federal Constituency I has risen sharply. Hon. Oluwabusuyi Olaolurun Richard, Head of Media and Publicity and spokesperson for the Otunba Ajisafe Fayose Campaign Organisation, has launched a strong attack on the sitting lawmaker, Hon. Sola Fatoba, accusing him of abandoning key constituency projects and declaring that he does not deserve a third term in the House of Representatives.

In a press statement issued to commemorate the state’s creation anniversary, Olaolurun said the milestone offered Ekiti people a chance to reflect honestly on the quality of representation they have received and the kind of leadership needed to drive future progress.

He urged residents of Ado and Irepodun/Ifelodun Local Government Areas to support Otunba Emmanuel Ajisafe Fayose, the African Democratic Congress (ADC) candidate and younger brother of former Governor Ayodele Fayose, in the 2027 general elections.

Specific Allegations of Abandoned Projects

Olaolurun alleged that several projects and empowerment initiatives promised by Fatoba either remain unfinished or were never executed, despite appeals from affected communities. He specifically cited:

- A youth sports centre in Iworoko-Ekiti, where only the foundation was laid before the project was abandoned.

- Promised road projects in Olorunsogo and Ile-Ileri communities in Ado-Ekiti that have not materialised.

- Failure to deliver a road and transformer for Olorunda Community in Ado-Ekiti.

- Inadequate youth empowerment programmes across the constituency.

“After two terms in office, our people deserve to see tangible projects that directly improve their lives,” Olaolurun stated.

He insisted that Fatoba’s record, in his view, does not justify another term and called on voters to carefully assess the incumbent’s performance before making their choice.

Call for Stronger Representation

The campaign spokesperson framed the anniversary not merely as a celebration of the past but as a moment to demand effective leadership, development and good governance. “Let us send a strong representative to Abuja to present our voice,” he said. “Let us stand firm so that we can enjoy the fruits of good governance.”

Olaolurun urged constituents to base their decision on the records, programmes and capacity of the candidates seeking to represent them rather than sentiment or party loyalty.

Broader Political Context

Fatoba, who has represented the constituency since 2019, has previously defended his legislative and constituency work.

His supporters and aides have pointed to classroom construction and renovations, ICT centres, health facility upgrades, solar streetlights, boreholes, road grading, drainage works, and empowerment programmes that reportedly benefited over 1,500 youths, women, traders and farmers.

APC stakeholders in Ado Local Government have also endorsed him as a consensus candidate for a third term.

The latest criticism comes as the 2027 race heats up, with Fayose positioning himself as a candidate focused on practical, measurable representation that prioritizes infrastructure, economic opportunities, education, healthcare, and youth development.

As Ekiti reflects on three decades of statehood, the debate over what constitutes effective federal representation is likely to intensify.

Constituents in Ado and Irepodun/Ifelodun will ultimately decide whose record and vision best serve their communities when they go to the polls.
