VP Shettima Commissions Major Abuja Arterial Road in Style

Abuja, June 10, 2026 — Under a light drizzle that couldn’t dampen the sense of progress, Vice President Senator Kashim Shettima today commissioned a major road project in the Federal Capital Territory on behalf of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu—the latest visible sign of the administration’s commitment to transforming Abuja’s infrastructure.

FCT Minister Nyesom Ezenwo Wike announced the milestone on the second day of an unprecedented 31-day project commissioning marathon marking the third anniversary of the Tinubu administration.

The event completed the full-scope development of Arterial Road N5 (Obafemi Awolowo Way), stretching from Life Camp Junction to Ring Road III in the Dape District.

This section follows last year’s commissioning of the Gwarinpa portion of the same arterial road, bringing much-needed connectivity and relief to residents in these growing suburbs of Abuja.

Wike highlighted the scale of the ongoing effort: “We had 9 days of projects commissioning in 2024, 19 days in 2025, and now an unprecedented 31-day streak for the third anniversary of Mr. President.”

”He described it as clear proof that the Renewed Hope Agenda is “fully alive in the FCT.”

The images from the event captured the atmosphere—dignitaries in traditional and formal attire cutting the ribbon on a wet but newly paved road lined with parked cars, ceremonial banners, and a red carpet gathering of officials.

The development includes modern drainage, street lighting, and improved access that will ease daily commutes and support economic activity in the Dape area.

For many Abuja residents, these projects are more than asphalt and concrete. Arterial Road N5 directly serves communities that have long struggled with traffic congestion and poor connectivity.

Completing both the Gwarinpa and Dape sections means smoother journeys to work, school runs that are less stressful, and better access for businesses in one of the FCT’s fastest-growing districts.

Wike’s aggressive commissioning schedule reflects a hands-on approach that has become his hallmark—turning campaign promises into tangible deliverables at a pace rarely seen in the capital’s recent history.

As the 31-day commissioning drive continues, more projects are expected to be unveiled in the coming weeks, reinforcing the Tinubu administration’s focus on infrastructure as a cornerstone of national renewal.
