Abeokuta, Ogun State—June 10, 2026—In a heartwarming ceremony that brought smiles and renewed hope to hundreds of officers, the Ogun State Police Command on Tuesday celebrated the promotion of 430 junior personnel, a clear reflection of the Inspector-General of Police’s commitment to staff welfare and motivation.

Commissioner of Police CP Bode Ojajuni personally decorated the newly elevated officers at the Command Headquarters in Eleweran, Abeokuta, and across various formations in the state.

The promotions included 6 Sergeants elevated to Inspector, 4 Corporals to Sergeant, and a significant 420 Constables to the rank of Corporal.

A Boost for Morale and Professionalism

Speaking at the event, CP Ojajuni described the promotions as a direct outcome of the welfare-driven leadership of IGP Olatunji Rilwan Disu.

He emphasized that timely career progression is essential for boosting morale and encouraging officers to stay dedicated to their duties amid the demanding nature of policing.

“These promotions demonstrate the IGP’s unwavering commitment to the welfare, motivation, and career progression of personnel,” the Commissioner noted.

He urged the newly promoted officers to see their elevation as “a call to greater responsibility, discipline, professionalism, and renewed dedication to service.”

CP Ojajuni charged them to uphold the core values of the Nigeria Police Force—integrity, respect for human rights, and commitment to the rule of law—while discharging their duties with excellence.

Broader Commitment to Excellence

The Commissioner reassured officers that the Ogun State Command will continue to prioritize personnel welfare and support initiatives aimed at strengthening institutional capacity and operational effectiveness.

He aligned these efforts with global best practices in modern policing.

For many of the promoted officers, the day marked a significant personal milestone.

In a profession where long hours, high risks, and modest rewards are common, such recognition serves as powerful encouragement and a reminder that hard work and dedication do not go unnoticed.

This mass decoration exercise underscores the Nigeria Police Force’s ongoing push to build a more motivated, professional, and effective workforce capable of delivering better security outcomes for citizens.
