Nigeria Needs Reset, Not Turn-by-Turn Leadership – Makinde
Akure, Nigeria – October 22, 2026 — Oyo State Governor and Allied Peoples Movement (APM) presidential candidate, Seyi Makinde, on Thursday urged stakeholders in the Southwest to become “reset agents” and actively campaign for his Reset Nigeria agenda, declaring that Nigerians are tired of the status quo.
Makinde made the call at the APM South West Town Hall Meeting held at The Dome in Akure, Ondo State. He said the gathering provided an opportunity to listen to the challenges stakeholders want addressed if the party is elected to serve Nigerians.
“In my response, I encouraged them to become reset agents to campaign with our reset agenda and I said they would be well received, as Nigerians are tired of the status quo,” Makinde stated in a post shared after the event.
Four Pillars of the Reset Agenda
In a follow-up message, the governor outlined the core of his agenda. “The goal of our reset agenda which has four pillars; Economy, Security, Education and Socio Political, is to build a Nigeria which works for all Nigerians not just a select few.”
Earlier reports from the meeting showed Makinde rejecting what he described as “turn-by-turn” leadership and nepotism.
He emphasized the need for energy and capacity in leadership rather than age, and challenged other presidential aspirants to demonstrate physical stamina for the demands of the office.
The town hall was attended by party leaders and representatives from Lagos, Ogun, Ekiti, Osun and Ondo states. Bauchi State Governor Bala Mohammed, who is also associated with the APM, was present and described the party as the biggest opposition force currently with two serving governors.
Makinde’s appearance forms part of ongoing town hall engagements across geopolitical zones as the APM positions itself ahead of the 2027 general elections.
This report is based on statements and posts by Governor Seyi Makinde following the APM South West Town Hall Meeting on October 22, 2026.
