“Nobody Trusts Tinubu” — Momodu Drops Explosive Election Claim
Lagos, Nigeria—October 14, 2026—Veteran journalist and African Democratic Congress (ADC) stalwart Dele Momodu has declared that no one, including supporters of President Bola Tinubu, trusts the President to conduct a free and fair election in 2027.
Speaking on ARISE News’ Prime Time programme, Momodu said public confidence in the electoral process under the current administration remains extremely low.
“Nobody trusts Tinubu to run a free and fair election, including his own supporters,” he stated.
Momodu further noted that some Nigerians believe the President would refuse to accept defeat if he loses the next presidential contest.
He added, however, that any attempt to reject the outcome would face strong resistance.
“Some people are even suggesting that if he does not win, he will not agree. But if he doesn’t agree, he will be chased out,” the ADC chieftain said.
Context of Growing Electoral Concerns
The interview comes amid rising political tension as parties position themselves for the 2027 general elections.
Discussions on the programme also touched on the uncertain prospects facing leading contenders—Tinubu, former Vice President Atiku Abubakar, and Peter Obi—as well as opposition claims of bias in appointments at the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC).
