Gbajabiamila Declares Unshaken Loyalty to Tinubu After Clearing PFIPC Scandal Allegations
Lagos, Nigeria—September 26, 2026—Chief of Staff to President Bola Tinubu, Femi Gbajabiamila, on Saturday firmly rejected any suggestion of disloyalty, declaring that he has never betrayed the President’s trust and that his commitment to the Renewed Hope agenda remains rock solid.
Speaking at the 2026 Gbajabiamila Mega Empowerment Programme held at the National Stadium in Surulere, Lagos, the former House of Representatives Speaker addressed the months-long controversy surrounding the Presidential Foreign Intervention Promotion Council (PFIPC), a body widely described as fictitious that had sparked intense public debate and personal accusations against him.
“My Loyalty Is Unshaken”
Gbajabiamila told the large gathering of supporters and beneficiaries that the past few months had tested him in unexpected ways, with stories written, accusations levelled, and his integrity questioned.
He expressed gratitude to those who stood by him, particularly the people of Surulere and Lagos, and praised President Tinubu for insisting on due process rather than rushing to judgement.
“I have been with Mr. President for many years… I did not question his leadership and never betrayed his trust in me. I stayed loyal then, and I remain loyal now. My commitment to his Renewed Hope agenda is unshaken,” he said.
He added that the President, having worked closely with him for years, was “supremely confident” that he had no involvement in the alleged misconduct.
The Chief of Staff further stated that investigations by the Nigerian Police, the Department of State Services (DSS) and the Independent Corrupt Practices and Other Related Offences Commission (ICPC) had cleared him of wrongdoing, with the reports now in the public domain.
A House of Representatives ad hoc committee had earlier reached a similar conclusion, finding no evidence that he authorized, established, or participated in the activities of the purported organization.
Background to the PFIPC Controversy
The PFIPC scandal erupted earlier in 2026 after the self-styled director-general of the body, Prince Adeniyi Adeyemi, alleged that Gbajabiamila had facilitated his appointment and demanded substantial financial benefits, including claims of receiving ₦400 million through a proxy.
The Presidency and Gbajabiamila’s office had publicly distanced themselves from the organization, describing it as non-existent under the Tinubu administration.
Questions also arose over how references to the PFIPC allegedly appeared in the 2026 Appropriation Act with significant budgetary provisions.
Gbajabiamila maintained that he had petitioned security agencies as early as October 2025 after concerns about forged documents and impersonation were raised.
Subsequent probes, including forensic analysis, reportedly linked forged appointment letters to Adeyemi and found no evidence connecting Gbajabiamila or his office to the scheme.
Gbajabiamila used the platform to reaffirm his focus on the work assigned by the President, insisting that no amount of money, blackmail, or lies would distract him.
The empowerment programme itself distributed cash support, vehicles, electric tricycles, minibuses, and other items to about 5,000 beneficiaries drawn largely from Surulere communities.
The Chief of Staff’s strong public reaffirmation of loyalty comes after a turbulent period that tested both his personal standing and the administration’s handling of high-profile allegations.
With official clearances now on record, Gbajabiamila signalled that he intends to continue serving without distraction.
