ADC Ekiti Central Unanimously Adopts Chief Ayodeji Babatola Olora as District Leader
Ado-Ekiti, September 3, 2026—Leaders, executives, stakeholders and members of the African Democratic Congress (ADC) in Ekiti Central Senatorial District on Wednesday unanimously adopted His Excellency Chief Ayodeji Babatola Olora as the Leader of the district, signalling a renewed push for cohesion and electoral readiness ahead of the 2027 general elections.
The decision was reached at a strategic meeting held in Ado-Ekiti and formalised through a motion moved by Hon. Ogundipe Ademola of Ado Local Government Area, seconded by Evangelist Kehinde Rufus of Efon-Alaaye Local Government Area.
The adoption received overwhelming support from local government chairmen, party leaders and stakeholders present, and was carried without opposition.
Chief Ayodeji Babatola Olora, a scion of the prominent Babatola family of Ado-Ekiti and son of the late High Chief Dr. Joel Ehinafe Babatola (the Olora of Ado-Ekiti), previously served as the ADC’s deputy governorship candidate in the June 2026 Ekiti State governorship election.
Strong Emphasis on Unity and Rejection of Divisions
In a communiqué signed by the Ekiti Central Senatorial District Chairman, Hon. Dare Ajayi, the meeting reaffirmed the district’s commitment to the unity, peace and progress of the African Democratic Congress.
Members resolved to set aside personal differences and work collectively to strengthen the party.
The gathering firmly rejected factional politics, urging all members to avoid actions, statements, or activities that could create unnecessary division.
Participants recognized the constitutional authority of the Senatorial District Chairman and his executive to convene meetings as needed and called for strict respect for established party structures and procedures.
The Reconciliation Committee was encouraged to intensify its engagement with leaders and stakeholders to deepen peace and genuine reconciliation across the district.
Focus Shifts Fully to 2027 Preparations
With the 2026 governorship election behind them, the meeting resolved that immediate and deliberate efforts must be made toward grassroots mobilisation and the expansion of ADC membership across all wards and local government areas in Ekiti Central.
All party members were urged to actively promote the programmes and ideals of the ADC. Candidates and aspirants were specifically called upon to begin early engagement with party leaders, local government structures, ward executives and grassroots supporters, while developing clear campaign strategies in close collaboration with the party.
Members were also cautioned against insults, personal attacks, inflammatory comments and confrontations—especially on social media and party platforms.
Disagreements, the meeting stressed, should be resolved through dialogue, mutual respect and established party mechanisms.
Collective Pledge to Strengthen the Grassroots
The meeting ended with a collective commitment by leaders and members to return to their respective local government areas and continue the work of building a stronger, more united ADC.
Participants pledged to recruit new members, fortify party structures and mobilise support for all ADC candidates in the 2027 general elections.
The communiqué closed with the rallying cry: “Unity. Reconciliation. Mobilization. Victory.”
