Buba Galadima Urges Nigerians to Unite and Vote Tinubu Out in 2027

Abuja, Nigeria – August 8, 2026—Veteran politician and Nigeria Democratic Congress (NDC) chieftain Buba Galadima has called on Nigerians to put aside differences and unite to vote President Bola Tinubu and the All Progressives Congress (APC) out of power in the 2027 general elections.

Galadima made the strong appeal on Friday during the inauguration of the NDC National Reconciliation Committee, set up to resolve disputes arising from the party’s primary elections ahead of the next national polls.

Even an Empty Coffin” Would Defeat Tinubu

In a fiery address, Galadima alleged that the Tinubu administration was deliberately creating obstacles for opposition parties, making it difficult for them to organize and field strong candidates capable of challenging the APC.

He further claimed that the current Electoral Act was designed and perfected by Tinubu before it was presented to the National Assembly, structuring the process to protect the interests of the ruling party.

“Tinubu is only protecting himself and the APC and making it difficult for other parties to produce candidates,” Galadima said. “The president is not thinking of a contest with anybody, but we won’t allow it. Even if it’s an empty coffin, all Nigerians must come together and throw him out for the sake of this country.”

Political Landscape Assessment

The NDC chieftain also assessed the current alignment of state governors. He claimed that Tinubu already enjoys the support of “34 and a half” of Nigeria’s 36 governors.

According to him, Oyo State Governor Seyi Makinde is the only one firmly outside the President’s camp, while Bauchi State Governor Bala Mohammed remains undecided and was described as the “half.”

Galadima’s remarks come amid intensifying political realignments, with several governors defecting to the APC in recent months, expanding the ruling party’s control of state governments.

Broader Opposition Context

The call for unity reflects growing conversations within opposition circles about the need for cohesion ahead of 2027.

Galadima has previously urged key opposition figures to align under common platforms, arguing that fragmented efforts would only strengthen the incumbent.
