Troops Arrest ISWAP Logistics Supplier with Assorted Pharmaceutical Drugs in Borno State

MAIDUGURI, Borno State — In a significant breakthrough for security forces battling insurgency in Nigeria’s Northeast, troops of Operation Hadin Kai have arrested a suspected logistics supplier to the Islamic State West Africa Province (ISWAP).

The suspect was caught attempting to move a substantial quantity of pharmaceutical drugs into a volatile area of Borno State.

According to security reports, the arrest occurred around 11:00 a.m. on Thursday, July 10, 2026, during a routine security screening by intelligence personnel from the 18 Battalion at the Molai Main Entrance Gate on the outskirts of Maiduguri.

The suspect, identified as Mohammed Goni, aged 31, was traveling in a vehicle heading towards Damboa when troops conducted a search.

The search uncovered a large consignment of assorted pharmaceutical drugs. Goni could not provide any valid clearance or documentation authorizing the movement of medical supplies into the conflict-prone region, raising immediate suspicions.

He was promptly detained for further interrogation.

Military sources confirmed that the suspect has been handed over to the Military Intelligence Brigade. Investigators are working to trace the source of the drugs, their intended destination, and any direct connections to ISWAP’s logistics and supply networks operating in the Lake Chad region.

Terrorist groups like ISWAP increasingly rely on clandestine supply chains to obtain pharmaceuticals and other essentials for treating wounded fighters and sustaining operations in remote camps.
