ABUJA, Nigeria—In a bold escalation of the ongoing “fake agency” controversy, Chief of Staff to the President, Femi Gbajabiamila, has issued a strong legal warning to Prince Adeniyi Adeyemi, demanding a public apology within 72 hours or face a N10 billion defamation lawsuit and criminal prosecution.

Gbajabiamila’s legal team, led by Kemi Pinheiro (SAN), described Adeyemi’s allegations—which include claims of bribery, fraud, abuse of office, and even murder—as “false, malicious, and highly defamatory.”

The demand letter, dated July 6, 2026, requires Adeyemi to retract the statements, remove all related materials from public platforms, and publish a full, unequivocal apology in at least five national newspapers and across the same channels where the original claims were made.

Failure to comply, the letter warns, will trigger both criminal defamation proceedings under FCT laws and a civil suit seeking N10 billion in aggravated and exemplary damages, which Gbajabiamila intends to donate to charities of his choice.

A perpetual injunction against further publications is also being sought.

The confrontation stems from Adeyemi’s widely publicized press conference, where he positioned himself as Director-General of the non-existent Presidential Foreign Intervention Promotion Council (PFIPC).

The phantom agency reportedly secured a N1.3 billion allocation in the 2026 budget, government offices, and multiple bank accounts before the Presidency declared it fictitious.

Adeyemi has made sensational claims linking Gbajabiamila to irregularities in the council’s purported operations.

The Presidency maintains Adeyemi is an impostor who forged documents and operated a elaborate fraud ring. Police have raided properties linked to him, including the arrest of his father in what critics have called a “substituted arrest.”

The development has ignited intense public debate. Supporters of Gbajabiamila view the legal threat as a necessary defense of his reputation against baseless attacks.
