177 Nigerians Deported from Niger Republic Return Through Kano Airport
KANO β A total of 177 Nigerian nationals deported from the Republic of Niger have arrived in Kano and are set to undergo documentation and reintegration procedures coordinated by relevant government agencies.
The returnees, who arrived from Agadez on Monday afternoon, landed at the Mallam Aminu Kano International Airport aboard a flight that touched down at approximately 12:54 p.m. The group comprised men, women, and children.
Upon arrival, officials of the Nigeria Immigration Service (NIS), the Department of State Services (DSS), and the National Emergency Management Agency (NEMA) received the deportees and immediately commenced registration and profiling exercises.
Authorities said the documentation process is intended to establish the identities of the returnees, verify their states of origin, and assess any urgent humanitarian assistance they may require.
The deportees are also expected to undergo routine screening before being referred to appropriate government institutions and support programmes designed to facilitate their reintegration into society.
Officials familiar with the process noted that the exercise forms part of broader migration management and border control efforts being coordinated between Nigeria and neighboring countries in the region.
While the deportees have safely returned to Nigeria, authorities have yet to provide detailed information regarding the specific circumstances that led to their deportation from Niger Republic.
The latest repatriation highlights the growing challenges surrounding migration across West Africa, where economic pressures, security concerns, and irregular cross-border movements continue to shape population flows between neighboring states. Government agencies are expected to continue working together to provide assistance and support for the affected individuals as they begin the process of rebuilding their lives in Nigeria.
