IKERE-EKITI — Concerns have emerged within the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in Ikere-Ekiti following allegations that two party members were arrested under controversial circumstances on Saturday night.

The allegation was made by businessman and political commentator Prince Isaac Fayose through a post published on his official Facebook account, where he claimed that two PDP members were taken into custody and that their whereabouts remain unknown.

According to Fayose, the individuals identified as Mr. Asoju Olasende and Mr. Dapo Oluyede, who is said to be the ward chairman in the ward of PDP governorship candidate Dr. Wole Oluyede, were allegedly arrested on Saturday night.

Fayose further alleged that efforts by party members and associates to locate the two men at various security agencies had so far been unsuccessful. He claimed that inquiries made at the Rapid Response Squad (RRS) and the Department of State Services (DSS) did not yield information regarding their custody.

The social media post also alleged that the individuals may have been held at an undisclosed location and could be arraigned in court on Monday. However, no official statement from law enforcement agencies had been released as of the time of filing this report to confirm or deny the claims.

The allegations have heightened political tensions in Ekiti State ahead of the forthcoming governorship election, with supporters of the opposition party expressing concern over what they describe as a troubling development.

Attempts to obtain official comments from relevant security agencies were not immediately successful.

As of press time, neither the Nigeria Police Force, the DSS, nor other security authorities had publicly confirmed the arrest or detention of the two individuals.

This report will be updated as more information becomes available and as official responses are received from the relevant authorities.
